In a heat-safe bowl, vigorously whisk together the grape-flavored gelatin mix and boiling water until the gelatin is completely dissolved. (2 minutes)

Stir in the cold water to gently temper the mixture. (1 minute)

Carefully pour the gelatin mixture into your chosen mold or small bowl. (1 minute)

Arrange eight straw pieces around the mold's perimeter, evenly spaced, to mimic spider legs. Ensure half are on each side. (5 minutes)

Refrigerate for a minimum of 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the gelatin to set firmly. (240 minutes)

Once set, gently poke two toothpicks into the top of the gelatin spider to serve as the 'eyes'. (1 minute)

For a more vibrant color, add a few drops of purple food coloring to the gelatin mixture.
Get creative with your molds! Spider rings, skull shapes, or even simple muffin tins work well.
To easily remove the Jell-O spiders from the mold, briefly dip the bottom of the mold in warm water before inverting onto a serving plate.
Consider using black licorice whips, cut into small pieces, as an alternative to straws for the legs.
